A gripping tale on which the film of the same name was based. Although I actually prefer the film as it has a better structure the book is, nevertheless, a very good read.

The condition etc from the buyer was excellent. It was suggested that I buy it by a friend as it was similar to my own novel also set in the forties. The Small Back Room would appeal to readers interested in fiction from the forties, though I do think there are better examples. But it was well written, atmospheric, the plot was good. I did think that the characters lacked depth at times, and I thought if they start a sentence with 'Oh,...' I shall scream!
Notable for the apparent first use of the phrase 'backroom boys,' and seemingly authentic -a good read if you were already interested in the story of Bomb Disposal, as I was whilst researching my father's military past. Not sure if it makes compelling reading otherwise, which is probably why it is so little-known.
