I quite enjoy vacuuming, I bought into the dyson hype and have had one of those, I have just replaced a Vax, that actually I thought was very good (and remains as a work tool) however this Shark blows both out of the water. There just is no comparison, it picked up more dirt and cat hair then I would have believed from carpets that are regularly cleaned! It’s lighter and quieter and more powerful! And yet is more delicate, strange to say, despite its obvious extra power it doesn’t rip the ends off of rugs or pull carpets and rugs up into it like a black hole devouring everything that comes into its maw. The headlights seemed gimmicky but are actually very useful. It’s modular/lift away functionality is incredibly useful for cleaning up high, or the stairs, or in the car and the fact that you can attach the main floor head in this setting means you can clean the stairs with a proper motorised brush head, without having to wield the whole upright vacuum on each step. It’s drawback might be that it has a smaller box for catching all it has cleaned compared to some other brands but that is a very minor detail and one that allows the overall size and bulk of this superb machine to be smaller than its mighty it’s punch! Very happy and bought at a great price, was thinking about an manufacturer refurb, but this one was £50 more but brand new and they come with a 5 year guarantee. One very satisfied customer here! Well engineered appliance which does what it says. We have no pets but my wife has very long hair, hence the choice of this model. Cleans long hair from the carpet without clogging or wrapping round the beating cylinder. Works just as well on various surfaces. Obvious to see that it needs emptying and very easy to empty without mess. One and only complaint, both my wife and I agree that it is very heavy to push/operate, which really spoils the experience, otherwise it would have been 5 stars

Best by far I have ever bought. My only regret is Not purchasing one of these Shark upright (corded) vacuums years ago. Superb at dealing with deep pile rugs/carpets, Especially on pet hairs! Has 3 levels to deal with wooden/tiled floors, light carpets and rugs, heavy duty carpets and rugs. I don’t have to stop to clean hairs from roller as it has the capacity to clean these off which go straight into dust compartment. Also has Attachments for pet hairs on upholstery etc, also for high reach levels, skirting boards etc. Easy to detach main part to carry around, simple to empty straight into dust bin. Easy to store in a corner as it doesn’t take up much room. Although it stated “damaged box” which was very slight, vacuum itself was never used, in pristine condition. I Bought one of the new cordless Vax for pets and had to return it, the brush whined on deep pile carpets. First use, the battery ran out in minutes struggling to cope. Personally, cordless vacuums are probably fine IF you don’t have deep pile rugs or carpets. Read full review

Right now I'm loving my new Shark AZ910UKT. Switched from a Dyson DC24 which I thought was the bees knees when I first got it. Now 10 years later with a grown family and the need for a new vacuum I consider my money was well spent on the Shark. Four of us have long hair, the Anti hair wrap technology is an amazing thing. Hair in the brush roller was a major issue on the DC24 , I can't believe it everytime I vacuum or empty the bin the hair problem is taken care of. Suction power, can't fault it. Tool & hose combinations, sooo many. Lift away engine, brilliant. The bin is a bit small but it's so easy to empty & I would rather empty it often. I thought the main body of the vacuum wouldn't get under the sofa or the bed as it seems bulky but the floor head went fully under. Stairs have had the best clean in ages using the short handle and stair tool, I didn't even have to unplug the cable form downstairs to upstairs. I love that it has all floor settings, deep carpet, low pile & hard floor. The soft roller really did make a difference to my hard floors and just pulled in all the bits that usually get left behind, no problem. Low pile setting on my rugs, deep pile on bedroom carpets. My complaints, it is heavy. It is sturdy & well made and will take time getting used to. With its powerful suction it can feel heavier but they even got around that to make it lightweight, just use it in stick mode with the engine taken off. When using the hose the vacuum has fallen over a number of times (ouch) but I think I'm getting the hang of it. The cable, I love how long it is and it's got a thick covering but it's a huge amount of cable to wrap back up. The soft brush is a lovely addition but it doesn't remain locked in its position (I don't know if they're all like that or if it's just mine) . These are small inconveniences compared to how good the vacuum is, it's early days I'm sure I'll get used to it. The led lights look cool, they're probably useful too but I've never vacuumed in the dark. To top it all off there's a 5 year warranty from shark but I'm hoping it will long outlast that. I got my vacuum at a good price so I'm all the more pleased with it. I recommend this vacuum and hope it lives up to my expectations.Read full review

My previous vacuum was cordless and the battery started failing after a couple of years. So I decided to buy a corded vacuum ... and decided on this "Shark DuoClean" model. I've been pleased with it so far. It is a bit of an annoyance having a cord, but that's more than offset by the knowledge that I won't have to buy another one in a couple of years when the battery stops holding charge. This particular model is quite quiet, but powerful ... it picks up the dirt much much better than my previous vacuum.
