djm or sip workbench’s are well engineered and designed. Hard wood is far better for tough jobs. The two supplied vice are very handy. Just the right length and width with a nice well along the back to hold various tools at below surface height. Very pleased.

The bench goes together like ikea furniture the bolt holes didn't line up great. The wood had damages and a rough finish in areas. The vices are floppy in their mounts but do still the bench has gone together and seems relatively solid but I don't know how long it will remain that way. The draw is stiff and will require shaving down to fit well. Overall it will work for a time as good bench but it lacks the detail of care to finish it nicely. It's a bit of a shame.

Having moved house, I wanted a workbench for the garage. I had one previously, an old 100mm kitchen base unit and a 500 cupboard bolted together with softwood planks on top of a plywood layer. It collapsed when I tried to move it from my old place, so it had to be a new one. I looked at a number of metal ones with composite tops, mdf and the like, and then saw this one. I was immediate attracted because it was wood, it had good review (mostly) and it had a couple of vices. I don't do a huge amount of woodwork, but have missed having a vice for the last few years. It arrived as promised, and I was immediately struck by how compact the package was, and how heavy. Assembly was pretty simple, all went together well, though I needed to take a bit of care to ensure the drawer was correct. So far (2 months) it has remained robust, and has fitted my needs very well. I find the drawer just a little small, would prefer it bigger, but the bottom shelf is very handy indeed. All in all, I reckon I have got my moneys worth and more. Read full review

The item is generally of good solid design, however it has thin slopping ply ends to the rear tray at the rear of the worktop. Also items slide around in packaging during transit and have resulted in damage. The ply slopes were damaged in transit resulting in a replacement unit, these slopes could equally be damaged during use. I believe the units would benefit by the ply at the slope being replaced with small solid wedge blocks, then the unit would be excellent rather than very good.

Good value for money but one of the screws has been put in at a terrible angle. I haven't tried the vices yet but they don't operate very well. Very course thread.
