Great film. You really should watch this. It balances the dilemma of people that takes things too serious and those that are not serious enough despite having the passion and heart. Please watch it.
Tigerland: The closest the American army could get to Vietnam without leaving the United States, a training camp that is a soldiers' last stop before being shipped off to the war in Vietnam. Our story centres on Bozz (Colin Farrell) and his refusal to play by the Army’s rules! This more than any other movie should be the benchmark of Colin Farrells career to date, as he gives a raw, often hilarious portrayal of a man fighting the system. While Farrell takes the lead, he is surrounded by excellent co-stars who all breathe life into their characters. Directed by Joel Schumacher (yes, he of questionable Batman movies), and shot mostly by hand held cameras, Tigerland has a raw, almost documentary feel to it, an effect which only adds to the movie! You may have realised by now that I hold this film in pretty high esteem, indeed, it's my favourite Vietnam war movie - which when one thinks of Apocalypse Now!, Full Metal Jacket and Platoon- is pretty high praise! So, to sum up, this is a movie about the Vietnam war but more importantly the men who fought and died in the conflict, it has a rich vein of dark humour running through it, plus some hilarious fart jokes thrown in for good measure! For me at least, this movie has everything one could want, a great story, well directed, with an excellent cast. So, if you are thinking about buying it, think no more - you won't be disappointed! Oh! Nearly forgot about the DVD extras; well they're pretty average in quantity (but not quality), with commentaries, documentaries about the making of the movie and Colin Farrell’s audition tape!Read full review
Gritty story of U.S. Amy recruits being trained for the doomed Vietnam War. Tigerland, a realistic recreation of what they can expect, is the last stop in their harsh training programme before they are shipped out. Colin Farrell plays Bozz, a rebellious recruit whose attitude and defiance have a major impact on his platoon. Powerful, violent drama.
