This is now a pretty ancient machine, but it is one of the few that you can get hold of cheaply that will print on "printable" faced CDs abd DVDs – a task that it performs very well. You can download the main driver from the Epson website which works on all versions of Windows that I have tried it on, up to Windows 10. It will complain that it doesn't have a patch for printing CDs etc. which I haven't been able to find, but you can ignore this message and just choose "manual" each time the option is offered. Then it prints happily. Obviously not "state of the art", no Bluetooth or built-in scanner, but the print quality is surprisingly good. Serves a specific purpose (CD/DVD label printing) extremely well.

Arrived early, a good sign Prints from Nikon Coolpix A300 were sharp and had excellent colour. Printer upgrade with display screen a good idea but there seems to be only 2 paper sizes for prints:A4 and 6" x 4". I wonder id ft here is any way around this , time will tell Satisfactory purchase for the money. Nye Evans

This review is about buying secondhand. I own 2 of these excellent printers. The print quality is superb and it will print on printable CDs and DVDs. When buying secondhand (for they are not available new) here sre the things that you need to know: In the base of the printer is a waste ink pad and the printer has a waste ink counter. When the counter reaches a certain value it stops the printer and tells you to replace the waste ink pad. This is not economic. I have replaced the pads but do not recommend this process because you have to dismantle the entire printer. You can (and many do) reset the counter, but it does not remove the ink which will eventually overflow after the first or second reset. Some people reset the counters (using software or a particular key combination) and then sell the printers before disaster happens. But this is not an issue if you know what to do. A simple modification to the printer allows the waste ink to be dumped into a container outside the printer. Then you can reset the ink counter as often as you like. The CD carriage on these printers wears rather rapidly and then needs a nudge to work. Replacements are available for a few pounds or you can modify the leading edge of the carrier and solve the problem. Again this is essential. Continous ink systems for this printer are cheap and easy to install and (with the modification above) give you ultra low running costs (changing a cartridge uses about 5% of the ink and this is eliminated because there are no cartridge changes). Epson built obsolescence into this brilliant printer and with a few simple modifications you can bypass it. Buy a maintenance CD on ebay if you buy one of these, or if you have one. Get one with the service manual, the reset software and details of how to modify the waste ink system. Buy a spare CD carrier (Must be NEW). Buy a continuous ink system while they are still made. If you buy one (used), you will get a great printer for a silly price.Read full review
