Great content from a movie trilogy I love, and it is a great source of information for the props, costumes, and overall design choices made by the design team.

This is an excellent guide for newcomers to middle earth. It blends well with the film adaptation. There are a good selection of photos accompanying the text and for young and old fans of the films, or for that matter those who war-game in that period, it will aid in painting the protagonists. However for the diehard Tolkien fans it is less suited. The text is true to the films as I have said and therein lies the problem. As we all know the films veered away from the original story in several areas and the text goes along in this vein. Such things as when and how the hobbits gained their weapons is different and therefore some may find these changes tool much. That aside I felt it was an enjoyable read and even being a diehard fan of the books did not take the changes to seriously, nor did it detract from my overall enjoyment of the book. I would recommend it and am looking for a hardback version to add to my collection. As my original soft back Started to lose pages soon after I bought it.Read full review
This is a fantasically informative book with all the different weapons and opponents within the Lord of the Rings trilogy. There is a lot of additional information that the movie-goer only sees briefly within the films. A must for all Tolkien fans.
