For the money it is a great piece of kit. it takes very little time to learn how to use it. a moon filter would make the item unbeatable as a trainer.

and a Barlow lens would make it a great item to upgrade to. but for the money it is great.

Impressive but needs a lot of setting up

This is an impressive piece of kit. However, the instructions are somewhat lacking. It is described as a good telescope for beginners. However, it’s a bit like a car mechanic showing a beginner driver where the wheels and pedals are and giving you the keys and telling you to drive to Scotland. I have had to search so many YouTube videos and websites before I could work out what all the attachments are, how they work and how to use them. And 3 weeks on it’s still not fully functional, although some of that is due to the weather. I’m looking forward to using it but at the moment all I can see is a hazy mess. I understand from the many comments online that the eyepieces aren’t particularly good. Perhaps when I’ve set it up properly I will find out. Oh, and it’s very heavy!

  • celestron astromaster 130eq

Its ok for a beginner to intermediate astronomer a bit fiddly to erect but once done is ok i had to purchase more lenses with this product as the ones supplied are not very good for star gazing so i got the celestron accessory kit in which you get a Barlow lens and a 6mm and 15mm lenses also some filters blue red and a moon filter, i would recommend purchasing the kit when you buy the telescope, but the telescope its self is fine once you get used to operating the eqitoreal mount have fun :)

  • Good beginners telescope

It is a bit tricky to set up but once you get it set up and use it a few times it’s pretty easy to use,I’d recommend going on YouTube and look up a few videos how to set it up there was also a video called (how to align your telescope by celestron) iv used it and seen Mars on the first night which was beautiful, there is also a bit you could buy which include better lenses it’s in what other Customers bought section, the item arrived very quickly and very well packed. Have fun star gazing

  • Good starter telescope

Reasonably easy to set up and use. I also bought a motor which was less successful. Awkward to pick up and move around which lost a star (no pun intended!)
