Hi. This lamp is a lttle gem. It is an oil lamp time clock. The oil vessel on the top has an unusual scale on the side, graduated in roman numerals from VI (6pm) at the top, through midnight, down to VI (6am). The level at the top of the oil, as the flame burns, and it drops indicating the hour. Quiet unusual I have only ever seen one other. Many thanks, an excellent seller Mike
